Demons v Titans photo by Ian Lovell

In a thrilling Welsh Conference East opener, Cardiff Demons dominated the first half against Newport Titans to eventually see them home by six points

Cardiff ended the first half with a seemingly unassailable 26-6 lead.

However Newport fought back in the second half to set up an exciting finish with the Demons winnng 34-28.

The other Eastern Conference game between the Torfaen Tigers and the Valley Cougars was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Keep checking back on the fixtures page for details of the rescheduled game.

Aberavon Fighting Irish deservedly won the opening match in the Western Conference with a 50-32 victory over reigning Harry Jepson Trophy champions, Bridgend Blue Bulls.

For Aberavon, second row Robbie Morgan was outstanding and named man of the match while wing Adam Dawe and David Dyers were on top form as was the kicking from the excellent Liam Gadd. In this form the Fighting Irish can look forward to a very successful season.

The other game in the Western Conference saw the Valley Miners take on the West Wales Sharks.

Both sides played an open and expansive game with 5 tries in the first half from the Valley Miners. This included two tries from the centre Chris Roets who would eventually go on to be the man of the match.

The second half saw both sides taking  each other on in the centre of the field with the Valley Miners coming out on top with a 42-6 victory.
