Cougars show their claws to take Junior rugby league festival in Gloucester

The second Anglo Celtic Junior Rugby League Festival at Gloucestershire Warriors' Chosen Hill base over the Bank Holiday weekend was a tremendous success as over 40 under‑15s displayed their skills in a series of matches.

The Valley Cougars from South Wales once again proved themselves to be an exceptionally talented outfit with plenty of pace and skill as they won each of their games against combined Bristol Sonic Youth/Plymouth and combined Warriors/Plymouth teams.

Many of the South West lads were playing the game for the first time and soon

picked up the basics with several players catching the eye. In a close‑fought game, the Warriors/Plymouth outfit just prevailed over the Sonic Youth/Plymouth selection by three tries to two in the opening fixture of the festival.

The contests were ably refereed by Rob Stockwell and Colin Neale and thanks are also due to the hosts, Chosen Hill FP RFC.

The next Festival is in Plymouth on Sunday 11 June and interested players should contact Dan Garbutt on 07811 132722.
