Blackwood Bulldogs moved into joint second place with Newport Titans after beating them 42-28 in a thriller at Glan-yr-afon Park.
Newport started well taking an early 10 point lead only for Blackwood to dominate the remainder of first half scoring 34 unanswered points.
Both teams exchanged early scores in the second half before Newport staged a mini revival to bring them within two tries of Blackwood. The best of which was a 60 meter run in by Earl Palmer.
However they weren’t able to cross again and Blackwood had the final say in the

match after Lloyd added a late penalty goal.
Cardiff Demons dominated the second half against Valley Cougars to maintain their position at the top of the Welsh Conference Premier East table, winning 72-22.
Cardiff took an early lead with a Wes Palmer try before the Valley Cougars replied with a pair of their taking the score to 6-8.
A couple of tries from each side took them to the break with the Demons edging it at 22-18.
The second half was a much more one sided affair with a 50 point onslaught from the Demons including a brace from the debutante James Thatcher
Jon Breakingbury scored a consolation try for the Valley Cougars midway through the second half which belonged, on the whole, to the Demons.
No games took place in the Western Conference this weekend.
