Cardiff Demons and Wales Rugby League Media Officer Mark Harris has been rewarded for his efforts in 2007 by being voted the “Best Media and PR Officer” out of all the 84 clubs in the three-tier UK Rugby League Conference.

As well as his regular matchday duties for the Demons and writing match reports, Harris has completely redesigned the Welsh Rugby League website, designs the match programme covers and posters for the Welsh national sides and is also behind the camera to officially film many Demons, Celtic Crusaders and Wales matches.

Over 120 delegates were present at the

Co-operative Rugby League Conference  2007 debriefing club’s meeting, held at Parkside Golborne prior to the Third Test at Wigan. The nine award winners were commended on their efforts. “The RLC has been an undoubted success” said Chief Executive of the RFL, Nigel Wood in his address, “we congratulate you and offer our grateful thanks for your tremendous efforts. This is a fantastic, community sport which is now being played in its widest footprint.”

Just before giving out the commemorative salvers, he added. “Irrespective of those who have won these awards, there is some truly outstanding work going on and this is a tribute to all the development and volunteer staff who do so much for the game throughout the competition.

Harris, who is the second Welshman in four years to win the award, said: “I’d like to thank all the media officers at the clubs in Wales who have helped me this season, as this award isn’t for me alone. It’s a direct reflection of all the hard work put in by everyone throughout 2007.”
