Glamorgan get second win on the trot
Glamorgan 34 Gloucestershire 8

Glamorgan University will go into the Christmas break as the second placed side the BUSA Premier South Wales and West following their 34-8 win over Gloucestershire.

Glamorgan attacked from the start and Paul Jonker almost gave them a third minute lead but dropped the ball as he attempted to ground.

However, just two minutes later, Glamorgan had a 6-0 lead following a Shaun Walker try and an Alex Gileys conversion.

Gloucestershire hit back five minutes later with a Dan Clarke try in the corner but the conversion was missed.

But Glamorgan stamped their authority on the match with three unanswered tries before half-time.

Carl Gabrielson was next on the board in the 17th minute after being skillfully set-up by Mark Hodge. Jonker increased the lead on the half-hour, picking up an excellent Gareth Evans grubber kick, and Andy Daniels ran in for another in the 33rd minute. Gileys converted all
  

three to give Glamorgan a 20-point lead at half-time.

Gloucestershire hit back straight after half-time following some strong attacking play. Eddie Beaumont and Dafydd Church both came close to scoring before Beaumont ran in on the fifth tackle to get four points back.

However Glamorgan sealed the game with two quick tries on the hour. First, Nick Dawson broke through the Gloucestershire defence to score. Then the Cardiff Demons pairing of Neil Thomas and Graham Hughes worked their magic. Ben Rawlings started the move before Thomas laid off to Hughes to enable the big prop to force his way through.

With both teams tiring, there was no further score in the final 20 minutes, despite attempts from Gloucestershire to try and narrow the gap.

Glamorgan’s next match is not until February 1st, when they face UWIC in Cardiff.
