Valley Cougars 18 Titans 50

Newport score another half century
For the second week running, Newport Titans put on an excellent second half performance to blitz Valley Cougars 50-18 at Sardis Road on Saturday.

The Titans opened the scoring in the fifth minute of a see-saw first half with an excellent breakaway try from Paul Jones.

The Cougars then hit back with two tries from Mark and Rob Jones but it was Newport who went into the half time break with a 14-12 lead thanks to tries from Ross Palmer and Tyrone Mahoney.

The Cougars went into an 18-14 lead in the first minute of the second half thanks to a try from Adrian Owen but after that it was all Newport as they ran in eight more tries,

the highlight being Sean Gibson's touchdown under the posts after an excellent break and run by Ben Morris.

Newport's remaining tries were scored by Tony Waring, Paul Jones, Matthew Dyer, Danny Nelmes, Alun Evans plus two from Neil McKinn. Although he didn't get onto the score sheet, the Parkhouse Recruitment Man of the Match was Newport's John Griffiths due to his excellent work rate throughout the whole game.

Newport now face Torfaen at Pill Harriers on Bank Holiday Monday while Valley Cougars travel to Swansea Valley Miners.
