Newport win Gwent derby
For the third match in a row, Newport Titans put on a first class second half display to give themselves a handsome win.

A crowd of over 200 witnessed the first ever rugby league Gwent derby and saw a close first half. Ross Palmer gave the home side an early lead and Neil McKinn also went over for his first try of the game. Adrian Fowler got one back for the Titans just before half-time, converting his own try and bringing it back to 10-6.

Newport, who scored 50 points per game in the last two matches didn't quite make the half century in this game but did give it a good go against a sorry Torfaen team

who suffered their second defeat in three days.

Newport's McKinn and Palmer both added their second tries of the match, Owen Jones scored a brace himself while Danny Melmes added another.

Torfaen replied with consolation tries from Jason Hill and Craig Jones.

Newport Titans now face the unbeaten Bridgend Blue Bulls on Saturday. Titans manager Paul Cooper was in a confident mood after the game stating "Watch out for us. This Saturday, we will be the first team to ever beat Bridgend!"
