Newport Titans will face Bridgend Blue Bulls in next Saturday’s Brewery Field showpiece after a one-sided second half at Pil Harriers.

The visitors started well and scored from their first set, Jason Kenneally going over in the corner.

But Newport struck back straight away after Greg Callow broke from the half-way line to score under the sticks. Lloyd White converted.

Lewis Culverwell added a pair of tries, the pick of which was a solo effort from 50m. White converted one which made the score 16-4.

Steelers struck back after David Dyer forced his way over with Dan Bleddyn converting but another Titans try from

Ross Palmer and the extras from White made the half-time score 22-10.

The second half was all Titans as they stamped their authority on the match. Scott Bessant went over for a pair of back to back tries straight from the restart with White converting the second.

Ross Palmer scored the try of the match on the hour after being set up by Culverwell who in turn caught an excellent cross kick from White.

And in the last five minutes, Titans sealed things with tries from Chris Vitalini and two from Greg Callow to complete his hat trick. White converted the first two to complete the scoring.

Head Coach Dan Clements said, “I’m delighted and so happy for the boys. I thought that last week’s game against Demons was good but today was exceptional and I think Lewis’ pass to Ross, when he was likely to score epitomises what the Titans are about, we play as a team and play for each other. Our planned moves worked and all of the players excelled. Today’s support was terrific and lifted the team I just hope that many of those watching today will make their way to the Bridgend to support us again
